Ford’s hottest hatch isn't going to be cheap.
Thanks to a tip from reader Nick Nowakowski we now know that the 2016 Ford Focus RS will start at $35,730, while a fully loaded model will cost $42,275. Apparently there was a link on Ford’s website that allowed visitors to build a Focus RS. As you'd expect that link has since been removed. Although the link is now dead Jalopnik was able to get some screen shots of the Focus RS configurator. These screen shots reveal just what type of options the new hot hatch will come with. There's a ton of goodies that up the price significantly.
We can see that the Focus RS will come with options such as navigation, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, a sunroof and Michelin Cup tires. If you select every available option you would have a total of $42,000, which is a heck of a lot of money to pay for a hatchback. While $42,000 may be a lot, Ford has priced the Focus RS to compete against the likes of the Volkswagen Golf R, Subaru WRX STI and Mini Cooper JCW. There's also the Honda Civic Type R to consider as well. If you had $35,000 to spend on a sporty vehicle, would you steer towards the Focus RS, WRX STI or something else?
