Ford has now realized its mistake by discontinuing the mid-size Ranger pickup truck. The thinking was that Ranger owners would migrate over to the larger F-150. That didn't exactly go as planned. 'Why buy a truck that can't even fit in your own garage?' many Ranger owners said to themselves. Instead, they sometimes ended up in a Toyota Tacoma. Currently in its third generation, the latest Tacoma was revealed at Detroit in 2015 and has continued to be a hot-seller.

In fact, we're seeing a resurgence of the mid-size truck also thanks to the new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twins. But to us the Tacoma still remains one of the best all-around trucks money can buy.

That's not likely to change anytime soon. So why bother buying a big F-150, especially when it doesn't suit your needs? Sometimes too much truck is just too much truck. So is the 2016 Toyota Tacoma one of the best alternatives to the F-150/Chevy Silverado/Toyota Tundra?
