Consumer reports has been testing the latest and greatest Tesla Model S P85 D for a while now. And for its latest test, focus is on the electric car's awesome acceleration. Comparing it to one of the other quickest accelerating cars on the market – the Challenger Hellcat – CR took the two tarmac-eating beasts to its private track in order to look at the science behind their rapid accelerations.

As you will see, the Tesla is able to pull over 1G within a second of launch in insane mode, which is essentially the same amount of force you would experience when falling off a cliff or out of a plane. The Hellcat manages a maximum of 0.8 G but takes a while to reach that point.
