Not too long ago the SLS AMG relinquished its title as the top of the line Mercedes-Benz performance car and the AMG GT gracefully filled its shoes. Both the base and S version of the GT are powered by a 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8 engine. However, the S model is capable of producing a whopping 503 hp in comparison to the standard 456 hp. Whichever way you cut it, the AMG GT is by all means a Porsche 911 punishing powerhouse with a 0 to 60 time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph.

In spite of all this, it would now seem as if Mercedes-Benz may be raising the bar yet again. According to Autoblog, the German automaker is planning on building a new supercar "halo" model which would have the "greatest performance of any Mercedes yet." The halo car will apparently be powered by a "V12 paired to an electric motor and battery pack" and will be positioned one slot above the current AMG GT as the Mercedes-Benz top dog. No exact production time frame was given, but evidently Mercedes is aiming even higher than fighting the Porsche 911. We're talking well into Ferrari territory here.
