The 992-generation Porsche 911 Carrera made its cinematic debut in 2020's Bad Boys For Life, where it skidded around the sun-baked streets of Miami with Will Smith behind the wheel. While it was an enjoyable action sequence, the product placement wasn't subtle, with close-up shots of the badging and Will Smith's character praising the car's performance and handling.

The Bad Boys duo clearly have a penchant for Porsches, but it hails back to a 964-generation 911 Turbo that appeared in the original 1995 film directed by Michael Bay and starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. It featured prominently in the opening title sequence and dueled with a Shelby Cobra on an airport runway in the film's climactic chase.

More than 25 years after the film's release, the original 964 Porsche 911 Turbo that starred in Bad Boys is heading to auction. Aside from starring in a Hollywood movie, what makes this 911 special is that it's one of only 350 examples built for the US market in the 1994 model year.

This was the final year the 964-generation 911 Turbo was offered with rear-wheel drive. Power is provided by a turbocharged 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine producing 355 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.

Finished in black with a black leather interior, the movie car was owned by Michael Bay, who sold it to film producer Pat Sandstone. It was then sold to its current owner in 2005. In 2008, the 911 was sold to the Matthew Drendel collection before being bought back. After appearing in Bad Boys, the beautiful black 911 Turbo has won numerous awards including first place at the 2016 Jay Peak Concours d'Elegance, 2015 French Lick Porsche Parade Restoration, and the 2014 Pinehurst Concours d'Elegance. It appeared on the red carpet in 2020 for the premiere of Bad Boys For Life.

Even though it has 34,396 miles on the odometer, the movie car appears to be in excellent condition. There's no auction estimate, but we expect the iconic 911 Turbo will fetch big bucks when it goes under the hammer at the Mecum's Kissimmee Auction in Florida next January.
