And there's now a glimmer of hope.
If there's one thing about the current Subaru WRX and WRX STI that we've never been thrilled with is the exterior design; it could have been so much better. But Subaru balked. It had everything else in place – the right engines, suspension tuning, a six-speed manual, and a rally-like driving experience that inspires endless naughtiness. A car with this much badassery deserves to look, well, pretty damn badass. And now Subaru has teased its Impreza Concept that'll debut this week at LA.
Previewing the upcoming fifth-gen model, judging by its styling, it bears a strong resemblance to the Impreza 5-Door Concept shown at Tokyo a few weeks back. That's a good thing. Rendering artist Theophilus Chin just took a crack at coming up with a pretty solid guess as to what that new concept will look like. Those body side character lines, clearly visible in the teaser, are present along with a wide and aggressive-looking stance. Picture this in production form with all of the WRX STI hallmarks, i.e. a massive rear spoiler. Ah yes, so much better, Subaru. Hope you have the balls to keep this design intact for production.
