Nurburgring lap times are so over.
The Aston Martin Vulcan will be flexing its muscles this weekend at the Total 24 Hours of Spa. The Vulcan will run two flying laps around the track. Now Spa isn't exactly the place automakers go to set lap times that can be bragged about. However, the Nurburgring is closed to record attempts and it seems like Spa is quickly becoming the next track up, so to speak. Now, the question is whether the Vulcan can beat the Koenigsegg One:1, which just ran Spa in 2:32.14.
The Vulcan packs a 7.0-liter V12 good for 800 horsepower. It rockets to 60 mph in under three seconds and tops out at over 200 mph. It's also lightweight as hell thanks to it carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Aston Martin factory driver Darren Turner will attempt to take down the One:1 this weekend, July 25th. Finally, a reason to watch endurance racing.
