The Lamborghini Aventador is nearly seven years old and its time is almost up. Before this raging bull is retired, Lamborghini wants it to go out with an appropriately large bang. Now, we've heard rumors about a potential Aventador "Performante" in the works, and now we've received this spy video of what appears to be an advanced prototype. The track-focused Aventador you see here features all of the fixings that indicate it's something more than the current Aventador S.

Look carefully beyond the fairly light camouflage and you'll see a big rear wing and diffuser, the latter looking awfully similar to the one on the Huracan Performante. Also notice the center exhaust is gone, replaced with a pair of exhaust pipes located in the middle of the rear end. The engine cover is also different.

Moving up front, there's a vented hood and even more aggressive front end styling with a splitter incorporated into the bumper. The side air intakes are also restyled. Overall, it appears there's a lot of active aerodynamics happening here, taken directly from the Huracan Performante's Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva system. What we know for sure is that this hardcore, track-focused Aventador will retain its all-wheel drive system and the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, which currently produces 740 hp in the Aventador S. Don't be surprised if Lamborghini has managed to increase output. Hopefully, this new Aventador variant will be good to go for Geneva next month. We'll keep you updated the moment we learn more.
