"We race to win. Period." - Bill Ford, Jr.
Le Mans has come and gone this year with a Porsche victory, but already Ford is gearing up for next year's most grueling 24-hour endurance race. Having already revealed the track-going version of its gorgeous new GT, three top level Ford executives, including Chairman Bill Ford, Jr. himself, recently sat down with Motor Trend editor-in-chief Ed Loh for some exclusive inside details about the new GT racing program. You can read the entire interview over at Motor Trend, but it can perhaps be best summed up in a single statement, according to Ford, Jr:
"We race to win. Period….We're not showing up the first year as a learning experience." Although specific drivers haven't been announced or even selected as of yet, the Ford Chairman did reveal that there'll be a total of four racing teams: two at Le Mans for the World Endurance Championship (WEC) "and two in IMSSA, the TUDOR Series." So how confident is Ford about its winning prospects? Dave Pericak, Head of Ford Performance, added this: "Let's just say we don't plan to not win."
