Both the super-sized Audi Q7 and its not so little brother Q5 are familiar luxury crossovers to those living stateside. And now the baby Q3, born and bred overseas, is going to make its way to North America sometime next year, with Audi breaking the news by unveiling this crossover concept. Named after the acclaimed Colorado ski resort, the Vail is a specially-themed edition of the Audi Q3 that comes with some cosmetic enhancements and interesting mechanical hardware.

The themed vehicle is wrapped in glossy Energy Red paint containing golden pearlescent particles, with add-on body parts in matte gray quartz-based paint, and elements of aluminum and high-gloss black. Aluminum underbody guard plates, extra lighting, a custom roof-rack with integrated wide-angled LED lights, a dual exhaust system and 20-inch alloys further accentuate the theme. Under the hood the Q3 Vail features the same 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder TFSI engine powering the RS3 Sportback and TT RS models, which delivers 314hp and 295lb-ft of torque.

Power is transferred to the Quattro permanent AWD system via a seven-speed S tronic transmission with the result a 0-62mph sprint time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 163mph. Inside, the Q3 has been updated with new materials and trims such as leather/fabric seats, a titanium gray Alcantara headliner, black Fine Nappa leather on the dashboard, and stainless steel mesh trim. Winter sports fans will enjoy the practical devices in the Vail, such as the charging station in the cup holder used to chill and warm a Thermos bottle, and a trunk mat with integrated heated cushions providing a warm area to get in and out of ski boots.
