Tesla, the world's most prolific manufacturer of EVs offers something for every budget: From the entry-level Model 3, all the way through to the upcoming Tesla Model S Plaid +, which was recently delayed and carries a price tag close to $170,000. That puts it well above the $139,900 Audi RS e tron GT. But just when you thought the Model S Plaid had topped out in price, customization company Caviar Royal Gift goes and makes a 24-Karat gold version priced at an eye-watering $299,999.

Caviar made its name by customizing iPhones for the rich and famous but has now turned its attention to somewhat larger electronic devices. The company has based this design on the yet to be released Tesla Model S Plaid+, which is the best-performing production Tesla ever to hit the road, and can do the zero to sixty sprint in only 1.9 seconds, and reach 200 mph, all while being able to cruise for up to 520 miles.

So what did Caviar do to warrant this insane price tag? The company describes its creation as "the world's best electric car turned into a true luxury item. Black gloss and dazzling gold. This is how Caviar designers present a high-tech luxury vehicle." The car is covered in 999 gold, which means 999.9 gold parts per thousand.

The company continues by stating that the car is "adorned with decorative elements covered with 999 gold in Double Electroplated technique. The radiator grille, side skirts, discs, rear-view mirrors, and elements of the rear and front bumpers are in the gold color".

Caviar says that the interior will also get some gold treatment in the shape of a gold-plated yoke steering wheel and dash screen. Interested parties have to make a request with Caviar, but waiting times are purely dependent on when Tesla decides to release the Model S Plaid +, which is speculated to only make an appearance in mid-2022. Caviar will produce just 99 examples of the 'Model S Excellence 24K' as it is being called. We wonder if the fact that it is an EV negates the fact that the Earth had to be pummeled for all that gold.
