Scion certainly believes some will. Don't fall for it.
Last spring, Scion revealed an FR-S trim that looks the part, but remains lacking where it counts. Limited to just 1,500 examples, the FR-S Release Series 1.0 features a custom-designed aero kit with a rear spoiler and side sills. Scion also says the Series 1.0 draws "on track heritage and the expertise of Toyota Racing Development." There’s also a quad tip exhaust system, lowering springs, push button start, and that bright yellow Yuzu exterior paint.
Add to that a TRD steering wheel and shift knob, HID headlamps and LED running lights, and you’re looking at an FR-S with a just announced asking price of $29,990. There’s also a $770 destination charge. So basically what we have here is a Scion FR-S for over $30k and it doesn’t even have a factory-installed turbocharger. Scion is asking for more than $5k over the base FR-S price without even adding more power?! At least there’s a numbered aluminum plate next to the shifter. That right there is definitely worth your hard-earned cash. Really Scion (and Toyota and Subaru, for that matter), you’ve got to do better than this.
