WRC Safety Car Proves How Extreme The Sport Really Is By Catching Fire

Fail

If your safety vehicles can't survive the course you know it's badass.

A safety car failed in pretty spectacular fashion at a recent World Rally Championship event in Portugal. Despite having "safety" literally printed on it, the car still managed to catch fire. Luckily the driver and co-driver escaped unharmed, but the car itself burned to a crisp. Now the reason behind the fire is unknown, but the event itself was under siege due to forest fires that were ravaging the countryside. What we do know is that the WRC is damn extreme if even its safety cars can't survive runs.

Luckily a Portuguese news channel was there to capture the blaze, so enjoy this horribly ironic footage.
