Making its premier at the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in the opening round of this year's season in Brazil, the Polestar Racing Volvo C30 has already proven itself overseas. Having competed in the Swedish and Scandinavian Touring Car Championships, the company claims they don't plan on winning the series this year, but are hoping to gain valuable experience in developing the car for the 2012 season and beyond for hopeful future victories.

The factory-backed C30 is painted in the company's distinctive blue hue and according to Christian Dahl, Managing Director of Polestar Racing: "Volvo Cars has given us a sound mission to evaluate the championship, meaning that we are initially not focusing on results, but rather on preparing a base that we could build upon for 2012." Reportedly, the racing firm is preparing a new engine for the car. This season will see the car running with a two liter engine before the change to the new one, reportedly an all-new 1.6-liter turbo that's based on a new Volvo engine family.
