And we thought it was nuts out of the box.
Hennessey Performance has just announced plans for an HPE1000 supercharger upgrade kit for the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. Already the world's most powerful production SUV, the Hennessey Durango Hellcat (the OEM model is pictured here) is set to have a maximum of 1,012 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 969 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. The stock version, to compare, comes with 710 hp and 645 lb-ft of twist, so the Texas tuner's upgrades are quite significant.
To achieve this, new components such as a 2.65-liter supercharger system, stainless steel long tube headers, pulley upgrade, high-flow catalytic converters, upgraded fuel injectors, and a high-flow air induction system are required.
Hennessey claims 0-60 mph will happen in just 2.8 seconds and a quarter-mile sprint time of 10.8 seconds at 126 mph. Straight out of the box, the Durango Hellcat can already hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and continue on to a top speed of 180 mph. Official pricing for the upgrade kit has yet to be revealed, but like the Durango Hellcat itself, don't expect it to come cheap.
Remember, Durango Hellcat production is going to be very limited with no more than 2,000 examples planned. Dodge has scheduled only a six-month production period that has yet to get underway. Hennessey's experience with the Hellcat supercharged V8 is quite extensive.
Past modified Hellcat-powered models include the Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk HPE1000, so this latest edition to the fleet shouldn't be a significant challenge. If 1,000+ hp still isn't good enough for you, Hennessey also offers the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk HPE1200 with a total of 1,200 hp. There's no word yet whether a similar 1,200 hp Durango upgrade will happen.
Aside from the engine upgrades and other modifications, all Durango HPE1000s will receive the familiar Hennessey exterior badges and a numbered plaque. A 1-year, 12,000-mile warranty also comes standard.
