The C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been a sales success for the Bowtie brand, despite the first year of production revealing a number of quality issues. 2020 allocations have been completely sold out, with the 2021 order books filling up fast. But for some, the standard 495-hp Corvette isn't enough, and with the prospect of 600-hp Grand Sports and 650-hp Z06s in the coming years, it's been well worth the waiting game. There's a glimmer of hope, though, as despite originally being slated for production in 2022 before the coronavirus pandemic, a Louisville Corvette salesman has opened up reservations for the forthcoming Corvette Z06.

Louisville Chevy Dude, as Mike Davenport is known, is a sales consultant for Bachman Chevrolet in Louisville, Kentucky. The dealership itself is part of an elite group as a Signature Corvette Dealer, with dedicated sales reps, service techs, and service advisors that specialize in Chevrolet's halo model sports car. According to his personal website, Davenport is now taking pre-orders of the Z06, which is expected to arrive with a 650-horsepower, 600-lb-ft 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine that sounds absolutely glorious. It will be equipped with a sporty suspension tune derived from the Corvette C8.R race car and will be honed for regular use at the racetrack.

A $1,000 fully-refundable deposit is required to get you on the waiting list. However, you still have to wait until Chevrolet officially announces the new model, along with pricing and options. At this point, the official order process begins, with allocations given based on a first-come-first-serve basis in line with the order in which the deposits were received. As orders are officially placed, a further $4,000 will be required, at which point deposits become non-refundable and you receive a GM order number for your car.

Bachman Chevrolet is the closest dealership to the Bowling Green production facility responsible for the manufacturing of the Corvette, so as part of the package, they'll arrange collection at the Corvette Museum, collection from the dealership, or shipment to your door.

It may be early days, but order books for the Z06 are likely to fill up quickly, so if you had your heart set on one, it might be necessary to get a deposit in early.
