If you want a brand-new C8 generation Corvette, you basically have two choices. You can either begin a bidding war for one of the few C8 Stingrays built for the 2020 model year or wait for new models, like the upcoming C8 Z06, to be built. Failing that, you could just get a used C7. In fact, you now have a chance to own a rare version of the previous C7 Z06, of which there are only 100 in the world.

Back in 2018, rental car company Hertz ordered 100 examples of the 100th Anniversary Edition Corvette Z06 to put in its fleets. Hertz is now struggling to avoid bankruptcy so it has now decided to sell these Corvettes on the cheap. All of the Anniversary editions are based on the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, meaning they are powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 dishing out 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

The mid-engined C8 might be getting all of the attention for its sub-three-second 0-60 time but with the eight-speed automatic transmission, the front-engined C7 Z06 could also hit 60 mph in under three seconds. Hertz did apparently have some manual Corvettes in its fleet but all of the Z06 Anniversary cars were fitted with automatics. That was likely a wise move, as sending out inexperienced drivers with 650 hp and a seven-speed manual may have ended badly for Hertz.

All of the Anniversary cars are finished in yellow with black racing stripes, matching the Hertz company colors. The cars even include yellow stitching in the interior, as well as yellow paddle shifters, Hertz-branded trunk liner, and special commemorative badges to signify that they are part of the 100 examples.

Hertz currently has 22 examples of the 100th Anniversary Corvette Z06 up for sale on its website but the cars can also be found on popular car search engines. The Corvettes are scattered throughout the US with prices ranging from around $57,000 on the low end to around $64,000 on the high end. For the same price as a new C8 Stingray, this could be a tempting proposition.
