Hertz rental car is celebrating something big this year – its 100th anniversary. And because Hertz is obviously a rental car company one of the best ways to celebrate its centennial is to offer something special for customers. Hertz has just announced that it's teaming up with Chevrolet (not a new Ford Mustang?) to offer the 100th Anniversary Edition Corvette Z06. Only 100 examples (how fitting) will be made available to rent at airport locations across the US.
The cities/airports chosen are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, and Tampa. All 100 examples are painted yellow with black center stripes. Like with any C7 Corvette Z06, power for the special edition rentals comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque and paired to an eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.
Hertz has opted for the Competition Sport bucket seats and custom black leather interior accented with, of course, yellow stitching. Additional features include a 10-speaker Bose audio system, and an eight-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Lastly, each Hertz Corvette Z06 has custom Hertz interior badging and even a personalized centennial anniversary plaque that shows the Z06's model number. Hertz says reservations for one of the 100 Hertz 100th Anniversary Corvette Z06s are now open.
Pricing? Hertz didn't reveal that information, but a quick check of its Chicago website indicates the daily fee is $199 plus taxes on weekdays. A maximum of 75 miles a day is allowed, and every mile above that costs an extra 75 cents. However, if you're in Las Vegas, that daily fee increases to $249, with the same mileage allotment. Best to check pricing per city before making a reservation.
