You Can Own Max Verstappen's Daily Driver

After becoming Formula 1 World Champion, Max Verstappen is selling one of his personal cars.

A new driver was crowned Formula 1 World Champion last weekend when Max Verstappen beat Lewis Hamilton in one of the most controversial season finales in the sport's history, which had us on the edge of our seats during the last lap. To celebrate, Verstappen is selling one of his cars in a charity auction. Before you get your hopes up, it's not the new World Champion's Red Bull Formula 1 car, sadly.

Instead, Verstappen fans have the chance to own his Honda Civic Type R. Verstappen's hot hatchback is listed for sale on the auction site CarNext, although the car's identity is being kept a secret. A photo included in the announcement shows the F1 star's car hiding under a sheet, but it's obviously a Civic Type R.

A teaser video starring the new World Champion provides a more revealing look at the car, confirming it's a Type R. And if you were still in doubt, the auction listing advertises it as a Honda Civic.

As he races for Red Bull Racing Honda, the Civic Type R was gifted to Verstappen to use as his daily driver. While a Civic Type R seems understated (and too inexpensive) for a Formula 1 World Champion, Verstappen also owns an Aston Martin DB11, Aston Martin Vantage, Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, Ferrari Monza SP2, and Ferrari 488 Pista. He's also on the order list for the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Dubbed the Type R Max Verstappen Edition, the F1 driver's Civic Type R is finished in Championship White.

According to the auction listing, it's a 2018 model and has been driven around 36,000 miles. Strangely, the auction lists the Civic Type R as a rear-wheel-drive model, but the hot hatchback is only sold with front-wheel drive. We suspect this is an error, but Verstappen customized the Civic Type R according to the announcement. You never know, it could be a one-off RWD Civic Type R built specifically for Verstappen, but we doubt it. The video shows the dashboard is signed with Verstappen's signature, but we'll have to wait until the car's official unveiling on December 17 to find out if there are any other modifications.

Verstappen's Civic Type R is currently listed for sale with a €33,333 starting bid, but we suspect the price will rise considerably given that the Civic Type R was owned by a Formula 1 World Champion. At least it will go to a good cause, with all proceeds being donated to Red Bull's charity Wings For Life.
