Back in the 1960s these guys sometimes risked it all to get the best shot.

GoPro cams are nothing special today. But back in the 1960s they simply didn’t exist, at least not from a manufacturer’s standpoint. If you wanted to capture the thrill of speed, the sound of a racing car or motorbike’s engine at full throttle, or even the final moments before a horrific crash from the driver's view, it involved little more than a camera mounted to a helmet secured with a bit of duct tape. Check out these beautiful vintage photos of legends like Sir Jackie Stewart and Steve McQueen serving as GoPro pioneers. Nothing was off limits back then.
