Porsche has just done something it never has before with its Macan crossover. It's created an entry-level trim specifically with enthusiasts in mind. Meet the 2023 Porsche Macan T, the most lightweight and purest version to date. The "T" stands for Touring and, up until now, was only used on sports cars like the legendary 911 and 718 Boxster and Cayman. The formula Porsche goes by is very simple: use the model's least powerful engine and cut off some fat. This is the first time Porsche has ever used the T badge on one of its SUVs. Depending on whether or not the Macan T is a success, we doubt it'll be the last.

2023 Porsche Macan T Price And Competition

Porsche has not announced pricing for the 2023 Macan T at this time. The current 2022 Macan base model begins at $54,900 but we expect the Macan T to be priced a few thousand dollars more.

The new Porche Macan T SUV is aimed directly at driving enthusiasts who still want to experience the thrill of a Porsche SUV without having to spend thousands more on trims with the twin-turbo V6. Therefore, the Macan T will rival other luxury performance crossovers in its segment such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Range Rover Velar.

Porsche Macan T Exterior: Understated Sportiness

The 2023 Porsche Macan T exterior retains the simple but extremely stylish and sporty exterior that made this performance crossover immensely popular from the get-go. The Macan is Porsche's best-selling model. Porsche has given the Macan T some unique exterior design elements such as Agate Grey Metallic located on the front, side, and rear of the crossover. This exclusive color is located on the front trim, side mirrors and side blades, roof spoiler, and rear brand logos. There are even standard sport tailpipes and side window surrounds in a gorgeous high gloss black. The side blades include a black Macan T logo as well.

The vehicle rides on a set of exclusive 20-inch wheels painted dark titanium instead of the standard 19-inch wheels on the non-T Macan base model. Porsche Macan T colors consist of 13 regular, metallic or special body hues.

Porsche Macan T Engine And Performance: Less Can Be More

The Porsche Macan T engine lineup consists of the base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 261 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Power is, once again, directed to all four wheels through the German automaker's excellent seven-speed (PDK) dual-clutch transmission.

The Macan T comes standard with the Sport Chrono Package, which includes a mode switch and Sport Response button located on the steering wheel. According to Porsche, 0-60 mph happens in 5.8 seconds and top speed reaches 144 mph. To compare, the standard Macan requires 6 seconds to 60 mph. Where the Macan T really shines over the regular base Macan is the inclusion of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and optional features like Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and an adaptive air suspension.

Porsche Macan T Interior And Cargo

With seating for up to five passengers, the general interior design layout of the 2023 Porsche Macan T is the same as other trims but there are some styling differences. Standard features include a multifunction heated GT sport steering wheel, a Sport Chrono stopwatch located in the upper section of the dashboard, and black aluminum door sill guards with an embossed Macan T logo. Eight-way power-adjustable heated sport seats have a unique upholstery. The front and outer rear seats have a Sport-Tex Stripe pattern while the front headrests get an embossed Porsche logo. You'll also find silver stitching on the seats, headrests, and steering wheel as a way of matching the exterior color.

A 10.9-inch touchscreen comes standard and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless Apple CarPlay is also compatible. A Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation system, and SiriusXM radio all come as standard.

The Porsche Macan T trunk space/cargo has a 17.2 cubic foot of space that expands to 53 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded flat in a 40/20/40 split. Occupants can utilize four cupholders, door pockets, and a decent amount of storage space inside the center console armrest.
