2025 Aston Martin Vantage Coupe First Look Review: 650 HP Of Class-Leading Sports Car

Unveiled on the same day as Aston Martin's AMR24 Formula 1 car first touching down at Silverstone, the 2025 Aston Martin Vantage is new in all the right ways. Exterior nips and tucks see the Aston Martin Vantage looking more muscular than before, and the interior is finally up to par, with a bespoke infotainment system that brings the Vantage into the modern era, as seen on the DB12. Revealed alongside its GT3 race car sibling, the new Vantage comes with enhanced mechanicals and more power than the outgoing model had: The AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine under the hood has been optimized to make 656 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, dropping the benchmark sprint to 3.4 seconds. Aston Martin goes to a lot of trouble to hammer the point home that this beaut is the most driver-focused and "fastest" Vantage in the almost-75-year history of the nameplate.

When Is The 2025 Aston Martin Vantage Coming Out?

The release date for the new Aston Martin Vantage Coupe is set for the second quarter of 2024 - production is slated to begin in the first quarter.

2025 Aston Martin Vantage Estimated Price and Competition

As is typical with cars in the ultra-luxury segment, pricing isn't openly advertised, so we don't know exactly what the price of the 2025 Aston Martin Vantage will be. Given the previous Vantage had a cost in the region of $150k to start, it's likely that the new Vantage will break $200k. That's not likely to be what most owners pay, though, considering all the customization options available.

When it comes to rivals, the new Mercedes-AMG GT will likely have a cheaper MSRP when it arrives in the USA, and although it's down on power compared to the Aston Martin Vantage, it dispatches the 0-60 mph sprint quicker (in GT 63 guise) thanks to all-wheel drive. The Merc makes 469 hp in GT 55 spec and 577 hp in the GT 63. For those who prefer the exotic nameplates, Ferrari offers the Roma with its V8 making 612 hp - the two cars offer similar performance, but the Ferrari is likely to cost a little more.

New Aston Martin Vantage Exterior and Colors

It's easy to get carried away discussing the looks of an Aston Martin, and this writer is a big fan of the sensuous curves and beautiful lines the marque is known for - but the new Aston Martin Vantage Coupe is a slight departure from that. Sure, it still maintains the classic gorgeous shape, but this is a more muscular Aston with a much bolder face. In fact, the body is 1.18 inches wider than the outgoing model, and the grille is 38% larger. The five-vaned grille has been recontoured and now allows 29% more airflow than before.

Staying at the front end, there are cooling intakes set into the bumper flanking the grille, a new integrated front splitter for dramatic effect (while improving high-speed stability through lift reduction), and the car features new Matrix LED headlamps with integrated DRLs showing off Aston's new lighting signature.

The roof can be rendered in carbon fiber or gloss black.

Along the side, we see the return of the iconic side strake, underlining the aggression of the Vantage while drawing the eye in. There are frameless door mirrors and new presenting door handles (although you can select non-presenting handles if you'd prefer). In those muscular wheel arches, you get 21-inch forged alloy wheels as standard, wrapped in chunkier rubber at the rear. There are three different wheel designs available in a range of colors and finishes, including Satin Bronze, which looks amazing set against Storm Purple or Podium Green exterior paint, as seen above.

Speaking of which, the available paint colors for the new Aston Martin Vantage are numerous, and you can spend an age on the configurator customizing your ideal coupe - with various liveries, pinstriping, grille finishes, and carbon fiber accents available. You can also choose to have your brake calipers highlighted in a different color.

The rear end of the Vantage is glorious, although some may feel it's a little busy - it comes with wider bumpers with side vents and prominent quad exhaust tailpipes. The slim taillights can be smoked out in black if you want.

Aston Martin Vantage Dimensions

Dimensions for the Aston Martin Vantage show that it's a smidge longer and wider than the previous model, and it's also a little heavier. In its lightest form, the Aston Martin Vantage has a dry weight of 3,538 pounds.

The wheelbase of the 2025 Vantage measures 106.5 inches and the total length comes in at 176.9 inches. Width is 80.5 inches with the side mirrors folded and 83.6 inches when they're extended, while the car stands 50.2 inches in height. Ground clearance is less than four inches.

Aston Martin Vantage Engine and Performance

As part of the revamp, the 2025 Aston Martin Vantage's engine is enhanced - the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 now makes more power than before, making this the second most powerful non-electric version of this engine in the Aston stable, second only to the DBX 707. Total outputs are 656 hp and 590 lb-ft between 2,750 and 6,000 rpm. This also represents the biggest jump up in power and torque from one model to its successor - a substantial 153 hp which translates to 30% more horsepower than the outgoing model and 15% more torque.

These improvements are achieved courtesy of new engine tuning, modified cam profiles, optimized compression ratios, and larger turbos. The result is a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a higher top speed of 202 mph; the older model's performance specs weren't terrible, at 3.5 seconds and 195 mph for 0-60 time and top speed, respectively, but better is still better. This version of the Aston Martin Vantage is thus the "fastest in the nameplate's history", according to the automaker.

Since it's so much more powerful, work had to be done to ensure it can remain cool, and as such, thermal airflow has been boosted substantially, with a 50% increase in the amount of cold air reaching the radiators. That's in addition to an oil system that has been extensively upgraded. A low-temperature radiator has been added to the charge cooler water circuit and two auxiliary coolers are added to the main radiator to improve thermal capacity.

Power goes to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and an electronic differential. A shortened final drive ratio and specially honed shift calibration work together with a new launch control system to ensure rapid acceleration. The launch control system is now fully integrated with the powertrain, electronic stability program, and transmission and allows the car to deploy as much torque as conditions will allow; drivers can choose how much wheel slip they want by dialing things up or down on the adjustable traction control system. Aston says that this setup is there to aid safety and performance, not to limit it.

In addition to this, the Vantage's enhanced body structure promises a tauter, more controlled drive. Built on the brand's aluminum construction with additional underbody stiffening components, there is also a 29% increase in stiffness at the rear under cornering load. The promise is a more engaging drive, and to that end, Aston Martin has also tuned the electronic power steering and added a non-isolated steering column for more feedback. The level of electric assistance decreases as the driver chooses more aggressive drive modes with Track mode being the most aggressive. New Bilstein DTX intelligent adaptive dampers add to the broader range of control and speed of response in the new Vantage.

Cast iron brakes bring things to a stop as standard, and these have drilled faces for improved heat dissipation. However, carbon ceramic items can be specified, which also saves almost 60 lbs of weight.

Gas Mileage

Although we don't have official ratings from the EPA, Aston suggests a combined rating of 23.3 mpg, although that's likely on the more lenient WLTP cycle. The more powerful 2025 Vantage is not likely to improve on the gas mileage figures the outgoing model achieves, which is rated at 18/24/20 mpg on the city/highway/combined cycles.

The new Vantage comes with a 20.6-gallon fuel tank.

Aston Martin Vantage Interior and Cargo

One area where Aston Martin needed to update the Vantage is the interior, and the British marque has done a good job of that with the new model. It features all-new interior architecture and a bespoke infotainment system that was sorely needed. The new interior features all the things needed to truly label this as an ultra-luxury coupe, namely the finest materials, cutting-edge technology, high-end sound systems, and a comfortable space.

The new look features slender air vents and a supple hand-stitched Bridge of Weir leather, available in a variety of hues and with a veritable rainbow of options for contrast stitching, headlining, and matching seatbelt colors. With seats for two inside the Aston Martin Vantage, this remains a GT car with a cosseting, comfortable cockpit that is driver-oriented to ensure maximum enjoyment. Naturally, there is customization to the nth degree available through Q by Aston Martin.

Thankfully, Aston Martin has done away with the old-fashioned infotainment system it used before, and now uses the next-gen infotainment we first saw on the DB12. It's been developed in-house and is supplemented by a customer connectivity app. It lives on a 10.25-inch Pure Black touchscreen with capacitive multi-gesture control, although physical switches and buttons have been retained for mechanical operations like gear selection, drive mode selection, and heating and ventilation of the seats. The driver also gets a 10.25-inch TFT display.

The infotainment system comes with standard navigation, 3D mapping, and What3Words integration. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard, as is wireless device charging. The base sound system is an 11-speaker Aston Martin unit with surround sound mode, but buyers can upgrade to a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins setup that's been engineered to suit the acoustics of the interior.

With the infotainment upgrade, the Vantage is more modern than before. Other features that feed into the contemporary nature include ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, heated seats, and a slew of safety features. As standard, the coupe comes with forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with speed limit adaptation, traffic sign recognition, lane keep and departure, rear cross-traffic alert, and even door open assist. There is a standard 360-degree surround view camera off the factory floor.

Cargo space in the Aston Martin Vantage isn't detailed by the automaker, but it's not high on the priority list for cars like this. There's likely to be enough room for a few overnight bags in the trunk, and inside, buyers get two cupholders, a glovebox, and a bin in the front center armrest.
