At the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, it is difficult to attract any attention there. Not because you didn't bring the heat but because there are always cars on display that are far more impressive. Case in point, a Bugatti Chiron itself might not turn any heads there, but haul out more Molsheim top speed legends in the same livery and Bugatti created a 4000 horsepower gang to bully all the fancy-lad cars there.

Since every OEM and wealthy owner is trying to out-do competitors on the Goodwood FoS hill climb, Bugatti decided to enter with a potentially unfair advantage. They brought out the Bugatti Chiron 300+ and Veyron legends to amount to 48-cylinders with 12 turbos pushing nearly 4000 horsepower.

The Goodwood hill climb is a highly contested event even though many people don't know it's just a driveway for the sprawling Goodwood House in Sussex, England. This privately owned estate has part of its driveway sectioned off to form a temporary 1.2-mile course with hay bales and caution tape. The aim for Bugatti was to come out to the hill climb and make a statement as they have been doing since 1935 in the their Type 35 race cars.

Bugatti had few smash hits at Goodwood over the decades with a visit from the EB110 in 1990s. Over the last two decades, the company has made significant strides in asserting itself as the world's most powerful production car and the fast top speed. With that, they rounded up the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition, Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition and the latest record breaker, the Chiron Super Sport 300+.

While each of these cars might not tear up the tight circuits they all set world speed records for production cars. In 2013 the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition hit 254 mph (408.84 kmh) making it the fastest roadster in the world. Earlier in 2010, the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition hit an eye-watering 268 mph (431kmh) making it the record holder for many years before challenges from Koenigsegg arrived.

Then there is the latest record smasher, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ hypercar with nearly 1600 hp and tweaks to pass a new barrier in automotive engineering. After hitting almost 500 kmh, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ did as it's namesake suggests and made an official 304.778 mph run. Limited to only 30 units, the Chiron 300+ features exposed carbon fiber and Jet Orange racing stripes to complete the package. The 300+ top speed pilot was Bugatti Test Driver Andy Wallace, who will be piloting the limited edition car up the infamous hill climb.
