Bentley is focused at the moment on moving its SUV project forward. But that doesn't mean that the British marque isn't looking ahead to the next model. That project, according to the latest from Auto Express, could be a four-door coupe. Speaking with Bentley boss Wolfgang Schreiber at the Shanghai Auto Show this weekend, Auto Express reports that a more svelte version of the new Flying Spur – or a longer version of the latest Continental GT with a couple of extra doors – is under consideration.

The model would slot in below the Flying Spur and serve as an up-market alternative to the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe. Power would likely come from the same twin-turbo V8 and W12 engines as the Continental, but offer a bit more space in the back, with the extra portals to ease access. A four-door coupe would join the Falcon crossover in helping Bentley reach its sales targets, expanding from 8,510 units sold last year to 15,000 by 2018. Don't expect the lengthened Conti to arrive before 2016, though.
