If you keep up with the latest action movies, you've certainly come across at least a few of Michael Bay's films. The 56-year-old director, known for his exuberant and fast-paced style, has brought us gems like The Rock. Who can forget the iconic car chase in San Francisco, as Nicholas Cage pursues the Hummer H1-driving Sean Connery in a bright yellow Ferrari 355?

To many, the Bad Boys movies (the first two, at least) are his best work. The action-packed films are a joy for gearheads, with iconic car chases including a Ferrari 550 Maranello and the unforgettable 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 964, arguably the most-loved car of the franchise. That car has caused Bay some vexation now, following its epic sale price.

It should come as no surprise then that Bay is a big car guy himself. In fact, the now-legendary Porsche 911 Turbo, driven by Will Smith in the movie, belonged to him. The movie director sold the car off to a friend a few years ago for just $60,000 - something he's certainly regretting now.

Sold for just two years (from '93 to '94), the 964 Turbo is one of the rarest Porsches ever, with less than 1,500 ever produced. With its role in a cult classic, you can imagine the ex-Bay 964 would be worth a considerable amount.

Recently, Bay's former Porsche rolled onto the auction block in Florida courtesy of Mecum Auctions, selling for a whopping $1.3 million. The Pearl Harbor director took to Instagram to express his shock at the extraordinary sum.

As you can see, Bay is kicking himself at the missed opportunity, but he's certainly not going to stop selling cars he doesn't need anymore. Working with vintage and supercar specialist Curated, Bay has put together a collection of four vehicles from the Transformer series. The vehicles are being offered as a set priced at $2 million, but that's a small price to pay for automotive cinema royalty, and when compared to the selling price of the Bad Boys 911, an absolute steal.

While the claimed 0-60-mph time of the latest 911 Turbo S is a dizzying 2.6 seconds, the 964's acceleration is still impressive, hitting 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and blitzing toward a top speed of 183 mph. How, you ask, with just 355 horsepower? A featherweight mass of just 3,241 pounds made it incredibly nimble and quick, but we doubt the new owner will be risking their new investment in the canyons.
