New Mini 5 Door Isn't as Cool as the Clubman

Spy Shots / 12 Comments

Farewell Clubman. It was great while it lasted.

Just after Mini revealed the new third-generation Cooper, our spy photographers managed to snap images of the upcoming five door hatchback. So what can we tell from looking at them? That it won't be as cool as the soon to be retired Clubman. Instead of having that third suicide door and the dual-opening rear doors, the Mini five-door will have a more conventional design layout. There will be a pair of conventional rear doors as well as a typical rear liftgate.

The Clubman has personality; this five-door hatch is well, kind of bland. And like the Clubman, the Cooper five-door will share the same engine and gearbox options as the newly revealed three-door model. We'll reserve final judgment until it has its official debut in the coming months.
