As you might have read here in the recent past, Nismo, Nissan's in-house performance/racing division, has been working on its own version of the GT-R; one that is sure to be even more impressive than the "standard" R35. But we're now hearing that Nismo's real time to shine with the GT-R will come in 2015 when the 2016 model year R36 debuts. That's because the car's development will be handled exclusively by Nismo this time.

Nissan's passenger car division will be having some input on the car, but this will come only after Nismo has handled the development, sort of the reverse of how the R35 was handled. This is probably good news for fans of the GT-R, as it is very likely that the R36 will be even faster still than the already very impressive R35. But what we don't know is how this will affect styling. The current, and very aggressive styling is popular with the boy racer set; but as this demographic will love the GT-R anyway, it's possible that the new car will get softer features in order to appeal to a wider audience.
