Well, that's it. The fifth generation Camaro has officially been retired. The last one, a 2015 Camaro ZL1, just rolled off the production line at the Oshawa Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. That's where the Camaro has been built ever since the model was revived back in 2009. Yes, Canada, but now production has been moved south of the border and back to the US. The fifth-gen Camaro was a massive success, outselling its arch-rival, the Ford Mustang, over the past few years.

Obviously that changed once the new Mustang arrived, but since the all-new 2016 Camaro is about to arrive in dealers, expect the rivalry to heat up once again. Even the chief engineer of the Camaro program, Al Oppenheiser, had sentimental words: "We take the sacred walk today along with the last 5th generation Camaro, a ZL1 that will find its home at our GM Heritage Museum. Emotional for all of the right reasons, this is a day filled with many highs and lows, as we recount 7 years of memories with our Oshawa family. This is why the Camaro is more than a car to us." Amen to that.
