We all know Hennessey as that bonkers company that makes fast cars even faster. The Velociraptor was an instant favorite when it was released, and the tuning jobs done to Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros have always been successful. Its most prized product however is undoubtedly the Hennessey Venom GT. The process of creating the flagship beast involved taking an ultra-light and modified Lotus Exige body and cramming a turbo V8 inside of it. And against all odds, it worked.

The Venom GT took the record for fastest production car ever when it hit a blisteringly quick 270.4 mph on the Kennedy Space Center runway. These cars are rare as hell-only 12 were produced in 2014 and they carried a starting price tag of $1.2 million. The 0-60 mph time comes in at just 2.7 seconds and 0-100 mph is a mere 5.6 seconds. These cars were all bought by ultra wealthy gearheads and they currently aren't too keen to get rid of them. However, DuPont Registry just listed one for sale. In fact it's the exact same car that broke the speed record. That's pretty damn special, right? So how much does is the record-setting all-American beast going for?

The answer is a modest $1.2 million, the same as the original asking price. This is very peculiar because with so few of these cars available the owner should have no problem asking for twice that much. The seller is anonymous, so Hennessey could be selling the car themselves. This would explain the very reasonable price, and would allow Hennessey to get a little extra cash for its next project.
