Following the launch of the ID.4 SUV, Volkswagen has an electrified product onslaught currently in the works. CarBuzz recently discovered a new trademark filing with the EUIPO, which reveals the name for one of these upcoming ID-branded EVs. VW trademarked the name "ID.7 Tourer" on May 17, 2022, likely for a production version of the stunning ID.Space Vizzion Concept from the 2019 LA Auto Show.

This is just our working theory, as the "Tourer" portion of the name possibly hints at a wagon model. We can't be 100 percent certain though, as VW typically uses Estate or Shooting Brake names for its long-roof versions in Europe.

Previous rumors indicated VW would use the ID.7 name for its upcoming electric sedan, codenamed the Aero B. The Aero B will feature a fastback design, like an Arteon, while the ID.7 Tourer will likely be a more conventional wagon. We should expect sleek styling like the ID.Space Vizzion, along with increased practicality.

The Aero B promises to improve upon VW's current EV benchmarks for range, charge speeds, and on-road performance. It's expected to arrive sporting around 400 miles of range (on the WLTP cycle), over 200 kW charging, and a sub-five-second 0-60 mph time.

When it first showed the ID.Space Vizzion, VW promised a 82 kWh lithium-ion battery driving a 275-horsepower rear motor. That's significantly more power than the 201-hp rear-drive ID.4 and ID.3. A dual-motor AWD version would boost the total output to 335 hp, putting the ID.7 well above the ID.4's 296 hp max rating. Of course, these numbers are subject to change in the production version.

VW has its hands full getting the ID.Buzz into American dealerships by 2024, so we may not see the ID.7 for a while. That's assuming the US gets the ID.7 Tourer at all, since the American market doesn't purchase wagons in high volumes.
